Yves Saint Laurent has to be one of the most respected fashion designers of the 20th century, this man saw it all and did it all-he literally changed the fashion world with his highly successful and world famous "Haute Couture Empire". I myself have great respect for Mr.Laurent and the era of Fashion he was apart of...I mean the 20th Century, was the Era of Fashion Gods, I'm talking Balenciaga, Christian Dior, Chanel and YSL himself. He lived a very Extraordinary Life, with ups and downs ofcourse but I still raise my Glass in celebration of this great mind and say: Well done YSL-This is for a Life Well-Lived.
YSL was a very Powerful, Respected, Wealthy and Successful man in the fashion world, see I Love this dudes persona etc. but what I Love the most about this mans persona is that-he never really cared about the wealth, Fame nor did he care about the power he had-he was more focussed on his craft-which is designing timeless pieces of clothing-From Dresses to Womens Tuxedos, YSL created masterpieces(Timeless Masterpieces). This man was just a huge ball of pure fashion talent and genius. He made millions from his works but he never really focussed on the riches, well he rather spent his riches on things which intrested him and humanity, he collected fine pieces of Art and he also played philathropic roles in the world.
Saint Laurent, created great desings, so much that he got to work with Chanel in the 20th century-on a couple of unforgetable designs-his designs simply scortched the Run way and he believed that fashion was more that just putting pieces of clothing together-it is rather a way to express ones deep desires-fashion speaks with the EYE and then awakens the Soul. His Lover and campanion- Mr. Pierre Berge, says "Saint Laurent would hate Today's fashion"-well I believe he would too, because today-the fashion world is more about SALES and MONEY more than it is about the actual Designs and Creativity.
Hopefully designers such as Jeremy Scott, Tom Ford and Jean Paul will take over from where he left off.
YSL died of Brain Cancer 3 Years ago and his Soul is peacefully buried in his home in Marrakash-this man is truly an Iconic figure in the fashion realm his vision will LIVE ON!!...Cheers to YSL!!
