1) The last digit of the I-94# number is not very clear(Not sure if it is a 3 or 8). What do I write in the 485? Is there any way to find the correct one?
2) I filed the I140 without providing the A#. I understand that when I dont provide one, a new one is generated. And the A# is usually used to link the 485 with the 140. Now when I apply for 485, if I give the A# from my OPT EAD, will it be a problem because a new number will be already generated for I140? Should I write the A# in 485 or just leave it??

alright fresh from this incident. my mother had 10 yr tourist visa expiring in 3 months after her travel date. in the old days it was recommended that you have at least 6 month visa validity when entering US for immigration purposes. Following that guideline she applied for a new tourist visa of course referring the current one on passport. While during her interview they didn't ask her any questions and told her that its a go. Her application got stuck in security verification which triggered due to the fact that she already had a valid visa. Upon researching further I found out you are safe to travel even a day before your visa is expiring because once you enter the country your stay is based on I-94 validity and not your visa. Hope this helps.

The company should really have changed your husband to H-1B before the end of his 6th year in L-1 status. You count L-1 and H-1B time together to get a maximum of 6 years H-1B. Since he has almost used 6 years, and the cap has been reached for h-1Bs, he cannot change now. If the permanent residence (PR) process had been filed before the end of his 5th year, and he had changed to H-1B, he could get 7th+ year H-1B extensions while the PR process was ongoing. Unfortunately, there are no such extensions for L-1 holders, so that once they reach the end of their maximum stay, they must leave.
The company could file for your husband's PR while he is outside the US, and this is worth discussing.

To prepare for this I applied for my AP in June, thinking that it will take about 30-45 days to be approved. As Luck would have it, my AP was accepted in a week and now I have an expiry on it for the 1st week of June.
Here are my questions:
I still have 2 weeks before I leave for my trip, now is it advisable to apply for another AP this week and wait for it to come?
Will that application make my current AP invalid?
From what I understand, you need to be here in the US while you apply for your AP, but can travel on your older AP while this one is still in process. Is this correct?
Is there a chance for AP denial, and how does that affect the chance of an AP extension in Future?

I got stuck in Canada for a week because the PIMS was not up-to-date. Luckily it took only a week but I have heard stories people getting stuck for a couple of weeks. If you are not in the PIMS, the consulate contacts the KCC and they have to research and update the PIMS. Do a find on PIMS and you'll hear a lot of stories.

Yep u need the original I H1 petition from the company for which u r working rite now. For the rest just a copy would suffice. The I-94 which is a part of ur H1 petition form Company C is very much required. You need to return that while u go out of US.

I will be taking up a new job and I have been told by the new employer that, benifits will start after 30 days.
I presently have insurence through my employer. My understnading is that, insurence stops the day I leave the present employer. Now how do i handle the stop gap in insurence to be on safer side...??
