Its nice to see teachers on this forum. I came on H1 through the company GTRR. You can get their contact number from their site.I wanted to ask Sirvi that how about working with an NGO. Did you file your GC under EB2. I filed mine under EB3. Please tell me something about it.
If someone knows regarding more sponsors for teachers let me know. I know some school systems in and around Georgia sponsor directly.

Just to add My I 140 approved from the first company.

Sorry for opening a new thread, Please point me to the thread if this issue is already addressed in some other thread and delete this thread.

I filed my I-485 in July, Still waiting for receipts, Now my company got acquired by another company. My questions are-

Any actions required from my side? What will happen to my I-485 which is already filed, Do I need to re-file with new company?
If I get EAD in next few weeks can I use that EAD after 6 months of filing I485?

RFE can be issued even though your priority date is not current. This is because USCIS is processing the case and keeping it ready (pre-adjudicate) to issue GC when dates get current.

Recently USCIS announced that they have less application for US Citizenship.

"In fiscal year 2007, a record 1.4 million legal permanent residents applied to become naturalized U.S. citizens just as the agency raised fees for a variety of services. About a million people received U.S. citizenship the following year.

By fiscal year 2008, the number of citizenship applications in the pipeline dropped to about 518,000 � far below the 730,000 filed in 2006."

Also they hired more employees in 2007. Also last year was election year so USC was priority. We will see more resource allocation to 485 apps. But dates are not current to they are Pre Adjuctiing cases. Also it makes sense that date didnot move in April as there was a huge demand from CIS. I think for This FY we will see more EB based approval.. and from now onward there will not be a huge jump back and forth. Also india Eb2 will get 25k visas for this FY and in last quater people till Mid 2006 will get actul card .. There may be some low hanging fruit from early 2007 or late 2006. ( I expect only 1-2 % )

I think all the issue will be resolved if number 5 is done. No need for H1 extension, and even there is a in efficiency in USCIS you can get gc within 3 years if they double or triple EB quota. So no need to meet President just meet Congressmen and try pressing them to increase EB quota.

Can we get an appointment with the President and explain the problems faced by EB immigrants....

1. Travel restrictions (no travel during H1 extension etc..)
2. Driver license issues
3. Wasted Visa numbers
4. Inefficiency of USCIS
5. Need to increase EB quota

I know that law makers should make these changes, but President has a strong voice and if he hears our pathetic position, he may do something, just a hope :rolleyes:

95% are from mexico.. some from eastern europe/china.... very few from sub continent

Imagine 15million uneducated /illiterate joining the main stream.. US will go from a developed country to a third world country in a blink of an eye..
ppl who are supporting amnesty have not understood the socio-economic implications of this move...

they should do something about the illegals..on humanitarian ground ..but in a controlled and regulated way.... and separate legal and illegals.

if you are not on his W-2, and the contract says that you are....that means he made a false contract, which should be invalid.
i think you can talk to a attorney to get more clear picture, but based on what you say....i think you shld be ok, since his initial contract was false.

Thanks for your reply Morchu. I want to have some further clarification here:

1. Yes. Most countries need 6 months validity on passport from the date of entry. Some countries are exempt from this rule.
The US Embassy has this pre-requiste of 6 months validity when applying for US Visa but I have no knowledge of any document mentioning this 6 months validity requirement at the US POE. Can you please point me to some source?

2. Usually you keep the same I94.
3. Not necessarily. But be prepared to answer questions. If you are unable to prove your intention to be permanently residing in US, upon US GC, that can be an issue.
How to prove this intention? Aren't proper H1B Documents, Employer Letter/ working in US enough to prove this intention? My question is as I will be using H1B documents to renter US at POE (not I-485 related documents i.e. Advance Parole), can that still be a problem?

Basically you have to claim that you have proper intentions now, and at the time of applications of canadian PR and US GC. Also you have to claim that you plan to reside in US permanently if you receive US GC.

I recently renewed my license in Oklahoma and was surprised to find out that on top of shorter expiration date, now my license has �TEMPORARY� written across it. This is new rule that OK is applying for non-residents and non-citizens. Has any body else gone thru similar experience? I am outraged that now I will be discriminated every where. DL is used on day to day basis and every body will question me, suspect me as to why �TEMPORARY� is written on my DL. Even DL office was not sure when this new rule was implemented, how come police officers, general public will know about it. I feel ashamed to even show my DL now. I�ll get hard time getting loans etc b/c people will think I may move out any time as I am here �Temporarily�

Is it only Oklahoma or other states are doing the same? See the link below from official DPS link for sample of DL.
